Jessica Lehto is back as Once There Was and this time the talented Gällivare-resident has recorded a demo with no less than eleven tracks. She has created a booklet in full color with lyrics and photos, printed front and back. Very professional in every single way. On Where Angels Grow, Lehto gives bands like Leave’s Eyes and Within Temptation a good game, both song- and track-wise. According to an interview with Lehto she did not send her previous demo Demons to very many labels, but she really should this time. The music style is still popular and with such strong material I would be surprised if the offers don’t come pouring down. Lehto sings nicely and varied, the tracks changes from fragile and beautiful parts to hardrockish ones. She knows her genre and I cannot see any reason whatsoever why Once There Was should not reach the colleagues successful arenas. Picking out favorite tracks on Where Angels Grow is not easy, but some of the highlights for me are "All you are" with its beautiful strings, and "While winter calls", a track that dances around like snowflakes with many nice parts combined. There are many great tracks here, but above all Where Angels Grow is a very successful entirety with its slightly poetical lyrics and magical atmosphere of beauty.
